Office of Scholarly Communication
All Libraries, Scholarly Communications Posted: October 17th, 2019The UCF Libraries’ Office of Scholarly Communication (OSC) provides support for students, faculty, and staff in their pursuit to use, create, and publish scholarship. The term “scholarly communication” broadly refers to the steps of scholarly research, writing, publishing, and any other aspect of scholarly output.
At UCF, the OSC provides services for three important aspects of scholarly communication. These include:
Research
Acquaint yourself with the research process and learn more about our services to help you with your own research. The UCF Libraries’ Research Lifecycle Committee designed a model to illustrate the steps of research and to highlight services available for researchers at UCF.
Open Access
“Open Access” is a term used to describe a publishing model that aims to make scholarly literature freely available on the web and free of most copyright and licensing restrictions. To learn about open access and what it means for universities, libraries, and your own published works, check out the Scholarly Communication website for more information.
Copyright
Do you want to know how your literary and artistic works are protected under the law? How does copyright work? Do you really own what you think you own? Discover details that can help you with your own rights. The OSC provides general information about copyright for students, faculty, and staff.
If UCF faculty and/or staff members encounter questions within the course of their employment regarding copyright law, the university’s guidelines with respect to fair use, university regulations and/or other official UCF documents, they should contact the UCF Office of the General Counsel. For questions about copyright, fair use, and related general topics, UCF students should contact the Office of Scholarly Communication at the John C. Hitt Library.
