Restrooms on the 3rd floor in the “back half” of the building will remain closed for renovation.
4th Floor
Starting Monday night, 3/20, the “Student Union side” of the 4th floor of the John C. Hitt Library will be closed for the installation of sprinklers. Materials in call numbers N through QP will be inaccessible, but can be requested online, please see a staff member for assistance. Items will be retrieved several times daily, and can be picked up at the Circulation Desk. It is estimated that this work will be completed around 5/1/17. Over the next months the entire building will be fitted with fire sprinklers as part of the ongoing work on the 21st Century Library project.
5th Floor
Work continues on the study area of the 5th floor. When completed, the area will offer students a bright, new, space for silent, individual study, research, reflection, and coursework.

Last day: 5th Floor Furniture Testing

Come on up to 5th floor and rate the furniture samples! The vendor is going to remove the samples tomorrow, Wednesday, February 10, so today is your final chance.
Furniture Testing, 5th Floor!
21st Century Library, John C. Hitt Library Posted: January 20th, 2016Come on up to 5th floor, John C. Hitt Library, and have a seat! Furniture testing for the 5th floor quiet zone has begun!
Is it comfortable (Comfort)? Do you like the way it looks (Design)? Would this be good furniture for quiet study and research (Usability)?
Furniture testing will continue for approximately 2 weeks.
(Note: Furniture colors will be selected later. Testing is all about the furniture itself, and how appropriate it is for the new quiet zone and YOU.)
5th Floor Quiet Zone Suspended
21st Century Library, John C. Hitt Library Posted: January 19th, 2016For approximately 2 weeks, quiet study on the 5th floor of the John C. Hitt Library will be suspended. Testing of furniture for the new 5th floor quiet zone will be taking place, so quiet on the floor will be disrupted by that activity. Today, Tuesday, January 19, furniture is being assembled and set in place. Details on your participation in the testing will be available here soon. 4th floor will remain dedicated to quiet study during this time.
