Know Your Library: Mango Languages
All Libraries, Know Your Library Posted: January 15th, 2025Are you interested in learning a new language? From refreshing your French from those classes you took in high school to taking on the challenge of Korean or Igbo, Mango Languages has all of the resources you need to progress! Below, I give a brief rundown of the content Mango Languages has to offer and how to access the software.
The UCF Libraries, in collaboration with the Department of Modern Languages, hosts Mango Languages Learning, a database and self-learning software that includes more than 70 languages with lessons that teach real-world conversation skills. Mango Languages can be used online on a desktop or as a mobile app, making it versatile for students learning on the go.
Some notable features are:
- Online web-based platform with no downloads or installations needed
- Offline access by downloading lessons to the mobile app
- Interactive words & phrases with semantic color mapping
- Pronunciation helpers with phonetic popups & audio
- Record your speech & compare it to audio from a native speaker
- Special thematic & cultural modules
- Film-based learning for select languages
Access is available to all UCF students and employees; simply navigate to the Mango Languages page on UCF Libraries site and, under the “Connect to Mango” section, select “Mango Languages”.
