Rosen Research Guides
An electronic book is exactly the same as the printed version of the book, except that the complete, full text of the book is available online. The UCF Libraries purchases selected electronic books and lists these books in its online catalog for the convenience of UCF students, faculty, and staff.
A printable version of this guide is also available: eBooks PDF (149 KB).
Let's say you are looking for the books about event planning. If you searched for ‘event planning’ in the UCF Library Catalog (http://cf.catalog.fcla.edu), your results may look something like this:

Keyword search for event planning
The first record listed is an electronic book, indicated by the E-Book icon.
You can access an electronic book from the library catalog by clicking on the hyperlink listed in the book’s record. For example, if it is a NetLibrary book, the record will say Click here for FULL TEXT from NetLibrary. This will take you to the NetLibrary database, where you can use the database's features to read the entire book or portions of the book online. (Note: printing, saving and copying of electronic book content from the NetLibrary database is limited due to copyright restrictions.)
To limit a search in the UCF library catalog to just electronic resources, click on Advanced Search, and under the Format drop-down menu choose Online Resource. For assistance with searching the UCF Library Catalog, see the Rosen Research Guide on Finding Books, or Ask a Rosen Librarian.
Important Note: Off-campus access to some online sources is restricted to current UCF students, faculty, and staff via an EZProxy connection.
From the library homepage:
For quick searches, use the Basic Search screen:

NetLibrary also allows searching through an Advanced Search screen where more complicated searches that use multiple fields can be performed.
To view the full text of an eBook:
To “turn the pages” of an eBook, use the buttons at the top right of the screen:

The Search this eContent feature at the bottom of the table of contents allows you to search for a word or phrase found anywhere within your ebook:

This is a great way to save time!
