Video Spotlight: Using Search Limiters

Search Limiters are the filters of the library database world. Located on the left-hand side of the screen, the various selections allow you to specify your search and speed up the process of finding an adequate research article.

Different databases have different filters based on the subject matter, though there are some common ones like “Scholarly (Peer-Reviewed) Articles” and “Publication Date.”

You’ll also find it beneficial — if you know what you’re looking for — to jump straight from a basic search (which contains only one search bar) to an advanced search (which contains more than one search bar). The latter allows you to add the search limiters before making a search, rather than having to make one and add them afterward. This feature gives you more control over your search than the basic feature.
