Video Spotlight: Paraphrasing Made Easy

Paraphrasing statements from a research article is a difficult feat, as you must accurately capture what the original source material is saying without using their words verbatim. The video below details how you can do so, step by step:

  • Locate the statement you would like to include
  • Identify the core concepts from the statement that are needed to support your claim
    • Ensure you are accurately representing the original statement
    • Define core concepts that are technical or unfamiliar
  • Write a new sentence using the core concepts
  • Review your sentence and the original source
  • Cite your sources
