The Summer Knights Reading Challenge ended on August 1, 2016.

200 UCF students, faculty, and staff participated in the challenge.

A total of 607,482 pages were read.

1^st Place: Kindle Fire (courtesy of UCF Tech Product Center) was awarded to Alex Hassan

2^nd Place: Knightro Nike bag full of UCF merchandise (courtesy of UCF Bookstore) was awarded to Rebecca Meadows

3^rd Place: $25 Starbucks gift card (courtesy of Starbucks located at 895 N. Alafaya Trail) was awarded to Rachael Johnson

Five randomly selected participants won a voucher good for one free item from Jeremiah’s Italian Ice

Have you noticed the fencing installed on the north (Student Union) side of the John C. Hitt Library building?

This is the start of Phase 1 of the 21st Century Library project. The site is being prepared for construction of the Automated Retrieval Center (ARC), a four-story structure designed to accommodate 1.25 million print volumes for quick retrieval in a three-story high space. In Phase 2 of the project, a student work space surrounded by windows will be created on the fourth floor, at the top of the ARC.

Before work begins on the ARC, power and plumbing lines will be installed. A new parking area will be completed in a fenced area in front of the College of Sciences, and the current parking spaces will be removed to make way for the ARC.

The College of Education and Human Performance will be installing  new carpets in the Curriculum Materials Center.  In preparation for the installation, limited computers will be available on Friday, August 5th , 2016.  Printing will be available until 3 pm.

Having trouble finding pokemon? Out of lures? Want to take a break from the heat and take some photos or color for a while? Well, you’re in luck. The John C. Hitt Library will be hosting “Lure at the Library”.

On Thursday, July 28th from 11am – 3pm, the library will ensure that there is a lure active on the “Flame of Hope” Pokestop located at the front entrance. During this time we will also have other pokemon related activites including:

• A photo booth area with pokemon props and silhouettes for teams Instinct, Valor, and Mystic
• Coloring tables for pokemon relating coloring
• Gym owner board. If you take control of the Reflecting Pond Gym, come inside and put your team’s logo on the owner board (even if it is only there briefly 🙂 )
• A Pokemon in the Library photo contest. Post your photo booth pics to Instagram and tag UCFLibrary. The funniest pic of the day will win a $15 gift card to Tijuana Flats.
