UCF Libraries Welcomes New Administrative Operations Manager of Access Services

The University of Central Florida (UCF) Libraries is proud to announce the appointment of Kai Desir as the new Administrative Operations Manager of Access Services.

Kai brings extensive experience in customer-focused library operations, staff development, and cross-functional leadership within a library setting. Kai will join UCF from the Orange County Library System, where they served as Assistant Manager of Customer Service. Kai’s responsibilities included overseeing daily operations, managing a team of over 30 staff across multiple service points, and collaborating with departments such as Facilities, Acquisitions, and IT to ensure exceptional service delivery. Prior to that, Kai held multiple roles at UCF’s Housing & Residence Life, where they played a key role in staff mentorship, compliance coordination, and systems operations.

Kai holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Italian from the University of Central Florida. Kai is recognized for their collaborative leadership style, ability to build and guide high-performing teams, and commitment to fostering inclusive, efficient, and user-centered services.

As Administrative Operations Manager of Access Services, Kai will lead a dynamic department spanning the John C. Hitt Library and Curriculum Materials Center. Their responsibilities include managing circulation, course reserves, the Automated Retrieval Center (ARC), and study room systems, while driving innovation in service delivery and space utilization. Their appointment reflects UCF Libraries’ continued investment in enhancing access, operational excellence, and user satisfaction.
