UCF Libraries Student Assistant Sarah Taha Awarded Two Prestigious Scholarships

The University of Central Florida Libraries is proud to announce that Sarah Taha, a student assistant in the Document Delivery & Resource Management Department, has been selected as the 2025 recipient of both the June S. Stillman Endowed Memorial Scholarship and the Lois Holt Scholarship.

Taha, a data science and mathematics major, has contributed significantly to textbook affordability and academic support initiatives at UCF. Since joining the Libraries in 2023, Sarah has become a key member of the Textbook Affordability team, using her advanced skills in data analysis and programming to track and optimize textbook savings for students.

Beyond her technical expertise, Taha exemplifies the values celebrated by both scholarships: academic excellence, professional dedication, and a commitment to service. She is a member of WikiKnights, a student group advocating for open educational resources, and recently co-presented at the Teaching & Learning with AI Conference.

“Especially as a statistics and data science undergrad student, winning two major scholarships because of my impact in the library is exhilarating,” said Taha “While data science and statistics aren’t traditional fields for librarians, our university gave me an opportunity to utilize a rapidly developing technology and discover how I could support our library.”

Both scholarships are awarded annually to exceptional student assistants who demonstrate academic achievement, leadership, and a clear commitment to libraries and learning. Taha’s dual recognition reflects her rare blend of skill, curiosity, and dedication to advancing education through library service.
