UCF Librarian Sai Deng Honored with Research Incentive Award!

The UCF Libraries is proud to announce that Sai Deng, Metadata Librarian and Associate Librarian, has been selected as a recipient of the prestigious 2025 UCF Research Incentive Award (RIA)! This university-level award honors faculty members who have demonstrated an impactful record of research, creative activity, or scholarship that advances the mission of the University of Central Florida.

With a research career that has been centered on improving access to knowledge, Sai’s contributions to metadata innovation, data integration, and digital scholarship have had a lasting impact across UCF. She has collaborated extensively with Digital Initiatives, Special Collections, and university faculty, helping elevate the visibility and accessibility of institutional collections.

Sai has also played a vital role in national metadata initiatives and digital humanities research, including a major collaborative grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission for the PRINT (People, Religion, Information Networks, and Travel) project. Her scholarship is widely published, and she is an active contributor and leader in professional organizations such as the American Library Association and the Chinese American Librarians Association. Beyond the library science field, Sai translated 3 books for the series The Lost Memory of Canton in the West, contributing to scholarship on Sino-Western encounters and cultural exchange.
