1st Floor Now Open!

John C. Hitt Library 1st Floor MapThe John C. Hitt Library is happy to announce that the 1st Floor is now re-opened!

We had to close the 1st Floor late this summer to allow our crew the ability to clear out several stacks of books and re-arrange other parts of the collection. The construction crew also erected a temporary wall to allow further work on the connector building between the Library and the ARC building while keeping the 1st Floor in a usable state.

With the extra space now available from the removal of the stacks, we have relocated some of the furniture from the closed off portion of the 2nd Floor down to the new space on the 1st Floor. This new seating will allow for study and group work, but please be advised that the area will be noisy as it is located next to the construction site.

Featured Bookshelf Native American Heritage Month

Featured Bookshelf: Native American Heritage Month

November in the United States is Native American Heritage Month, also referred to as American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month. It celebrates the rich history and diversity of America’s native peoples and educates the public about historical and current challenges they face. Native American Heritage Month was first declared by presidential proclamation in 1990 which urged the United States to learn more about their first nations.

Join the UCF Libraries as we celebrate diverse voices and subjects with these suggestions. Click on the link below to see the full list, descriptions, and catalog links for the featured Native American Heritage titles suggested by UCF Library employees. These 20 books plus many more are also on display on the 2nd (main) floor of the John C. Hitt Library next to the bank of two elevators.
