An often-asked question at the Research & Information Desk is “what are those study carrels/workstations/shower stalls behind your desk?” There are two correct answers to that question. The area to the left as you’re facing the office door hosts tutors from the University Writing Center. They take appointments and drop-in clients who need to have papers reviewed for form, grammar, style and clarity. The area is entirely moderated by UWC, not the library; questions may be directed to 407-823-2197, or visit their website at https://uwc.cah.ucf.edu/ to make an appointment.
The station to the right of the door is reserved for use by the UCF librarians. Similarly, they take appointments with students, faculty, and sometimes community members who request individualized instruction on locating and using UCF Libraries’ research materials. These areas are not open for public use; however, anyone wishing to have a one-on-one research consultation with a librarian may make an appointment at http://library.ucf.edu/help/schedule-an-appointment/
