7 Questions with CMC Leader, Peggy Nuhn!

Today we are celebrating one of our UCF Libraries superstars, Peggy Nuhn! Working as our CMC (Curriculum Materials Center) interim department head, the UCF Connect Librarian at Seminole State College, and the instructor of a credit-bearing course, Peggy is certainly an exemplary example of what it means to be a superstar librarian at UCF. Constantly leading with a kind heart and pure ambition Peggy has solidified herself as an integral part of UCF Libraries. We sat down with Peggy to see her journey through UCF, how exactly she got here, and what she enjoys most about her work as a librarian.

The Story of Vinnie the Vulture

UCF’s mascot history is rich in folklore. Long before Knightro, there were official mascots of the university, like Sir Wins-a-lot, Puff, and Mack the Knight. But before that, there were some unofficial mascots that have gained a lot of attention. The most popular would be Citronaut but right along side him was (believe it or not) an actual turkey vulture.

7 Questions with Book Conservator, Chris Saclolo!

Today we’re celebrating Chris Saclolo! Chris works as the sole Book Conservator in the Special Collections & University Archives department and is responsible for protecting the university’s archives. The first and only individual to hold this position, Chris is pioneering what it means to advocate for, protect, and restore prized archives in our library! Between maintaining a safe environment for the materials, dealing with storage challenges, and rehousing materials, Chris is a master at time management, efficiency, and multi-tasking. He exemplifies what it means to approach your work every day with a sense of detail, pride, and creativity. We sat down with Chris to learn a little bit about book conservation, his background, and the importance of treating our materials with care!
