Open Access in October

Open Access (OA) is celebrated each year in October during OA Week. OA Week aims to bring awareness to the benefits of OA. It also helps encourage OA advancements and innovations throughout the global scholarly community. OA Week has been a worldwide event for nearly a decade, and it is organized by SPARC.

You might have noticed that our Talk Like a Pirate Day blog post mentioned OA Week. Our pirate-themed OA Week activities are coming up soon!

Hurricane Matthew Closures

The UCF Libraries will be closed from Wednesday, 10/5, at 5:00 p.m. The John C. Hitt Library and the Library at Rosen College will open on Sunday, 10/9, at noon. The Curriculum Materials Center will open on Monday, 10/10, at 7.45 a.m. Online resources such as databases, electronic journals, and e-Books will be available, so library research can be conducted during the closure.

LibTech items due back after 5:00pm on 10/5/16 will automatically have their loan periods extended until the library reopens on Sunday 10/9 at 12:00pm noon. This does NOT include 4-hour items checked out on 10/5/16; those are due back to the LibTech Desk by 4:45pm that day.

Sections of 4th Floor temporarily closed

Repairs are being made to areas of the 4th floor stacks today, mostly in call number areas PR, PS, and QA.
If you need books retrieved from these areas, please ask at the Circulation Services Desk on 2nd (main)floor.
There will be noise from the work on the shelving on the north (Student Union) side of the building on the 4th floor.
For quiet study, try the side of 4th toward the Reflecting Pond, or 5th floor.
