University Archives item featured in UCF Podcast
Special Collections & University Archives, STARS Digital Repository Posted: June 9th, 2016As previously posted, Dr. Robert Cassanello’s podcast project “A History of Central Florida” is a 50-episode podcast that examines the history of central Florida through local area objects found in museums, historical organizations, and other places. Today, we want to direct you specifically to Episode 45 Diploma Plate. The diploma plate featured is from UCF Libraries’ Special Collections and University Archives department.
The diploma plate is part of the UCF Memorabilia Collection, which holds mainly objects but also some paper-based materials suitable for exhibiting. T-shirts, key fobs, mugs, plaques, framed items, shovels, and similar materials provide a visual history of the University of Central Florida. The Pegasus Seal, which is the university’s emblem, is featured on many objects including those created when the university was named Florida Technological University.
In this episode of A History of Central Florida, Dr. Christopher Loss, Retha Riley Underwood, Dr. Robert Bledsoe, Joyce Hart Perkins, Mike Canavan, and Richard King speak about the charter class and first graduating class at Florida Technological University, now the University of Central Florida.
