Benefit: Students who need computers for school related purposes won't have to wait for people looking at pictures of themselves.
from the library: The library would like to maximize the use of the computer workstations in the building, so your suggestion is appreciated.
One thing that needs to be taken into account: students do use social software to communicate information about assignments and homework to each other.
And, secondly, UCF students are multitaskers. A student may take a break from writing a paper or doing research by taking a look at a few photos from the weekend. Or they may send a quick message to friends and family. It would be very difficult for many UCF students to completely separate class work from social contact.
And it would be difficult, and perhaps impossible, to enforce this restriction.
Even the UCF Library has a Facebook page, and so does UCF Libraries Special Collections. (Be a fan!)
