The Universal Orlando Foundation Library and the UCF Libraries Special Collections department are pleased to announce the online availability of the Harrison "Buzz" Price Papers.
Price, a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) and a member of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) Hall of Fame, is widely regarded as one of the most important market researchers in the attractions industry.
Price assisted with the location of Disneyland in Anaheim in the early 1950s, located Disney World in central Florida in 1963, wrote a Universal Studios tour feasibility analysis in 1964, and worked on hundreds of other attraction-related projects, as well as many other commercial and real estate ventures, throughout the period from 1955-2003. Price founded two successful consulting companies, Economic Research Associates (ERA) in 1958 and the Harrison Price Company in 1978. In addition, Price is the author of Walt's revolution! By the Numbers (2004), one of the best behind-the-scenes accounts of the planning and economic aspects of amusement parks.
The entire Price collection, comprising hundreds of boxes of material, is located in the Special Collections department at the main UCF Library. In addition, many of the reports, selected for their research use by the faculty of the Rosen College of Hospitality Management, are now available in digital form.
