Opening Lines

"The two most important requirements for major success are: first, being in the right place at the right time, and second, doing something about it."
~ Ray Kroc (1902-1984)

News & Notes...

Rosen Library Website Redesign

If you've been on the Rosen Library Website recently ( you may have noticed that it received a facelift! Mid-semester we unveiled a cleaner, updated design based on student and faculty feedback. Important links to our research help, research guides, and video list are now prominently displayed, along with our hours and news blog. Have suggestions or questions about our new site? Let us know!

New Chat Help

Did you know that the Rosen Library now offers chat? Students, faculty, and staff are welcome to use the new chat feature to ask questions and receive research assistance. Although only recently added to our website, chat is already becoming popular with students! Please encourage your students to try out this great new service.

Library Instruction

If you are teaching a course this summer or fall that includes a research-assignment, we encourage you to think about including a library instruction component. Topics could include how to perform basic library and online research, how to find company information, how to cite sources, and more. Delivery options include:

  • Online modules through Canvas
  • Online modules through our library website
  • Face-to-face sessions

If you're not sure which delivery method to choose, we can help you pick the option that works best with your course and with your work style. To schedule a library instruction component with one or more of your summer courses, simply contact Kelly or Tim at, at 407-903-8100, or in person in the library. We request that you please contact us as soon as possible — before the start of classes, if possible — with all library instruction requests.

Canvas Modules Update

For those who have used our Canvas modules in the past: we ask that you not reuse older modules, as some of the content and functionality is out of date! Please contact us and we will provide you with the updated module.

Course Reserves

Please contact us if you would like to put any additional materials on (print or electronic) reserve for your Summer course(s), or if you just want to double-check to see if we have a copy of your required and/or recommended text on reserve. Students really enjoy having access to course materials in the library — this past semester, students checked out reserve items in the library over 2200 times!

Tech Fee Improvements

The Rosen Library was recently awarded tech fee funds, and we are busy implementing the new technology. Within the next few months, we'll be replacing all of the desktop PCs in the library, adding wall-mounted computers and Blu-ray players in the small study rooms, adding tablets for checkout, and improving both wired and wireless connections in the library.

We are also implementing a digital sign, where we will feature news about the library and the Rosen campus.

Stay tuned for updates. We hope all of the technology improvements will be complete and functional by the end of the summer!

University Writing Center Update

The University Writing Center (UWC) was more popular than ever this past spring at Rosen, providing 69 consultations during their limited hours! Unfortunately, the UWC does not have enough available staff to offer in-person writing consultations at the Rosen campus over the summer. However, they will still offer services through their main campus locations and their online consultation options. Please refer to the UWC website for more information.
