New Look

You’ll notice that Faculty Lines has a new design! It should look and work great, no matter which type of device you use to read email. Love it? Hate it? Meh? Let us know!

Technology Facelift

We are pleased to report that the Rosen Library has been awarded Technology Fee funding for spring 2014! With the funds, we will be replacing the library’s desktop computers, adding tablets for student checkout, and adding wall-mounted computers to the three group study rooms. This is the first full technology refresh for the Rosen Library since it opened 10 years ago, and we are very excited about it! We will be publicizing the upgrades to students, as they are completed and ready for use.

Scholarly Communications Support

Did you know? The main campus library now has a Scholarly Communication department, which heightens awareness and provides support for areas such as citation management tools, citation metrics, copyright, data management plans, institutional repositories, metadata, open access, and much more. Furthermore, your Rosen librarians, Kelly and Tim, are part of a Scholarly Communications workgroup that meets regularly to work on these issues, which are becoming so vital in today’s higher education environment.

Simply put: please don’t hesitate to contact us with your scholarly communications questions or concerns. We can help with most issues, or we can seek out assistance from our fellow Scholarly Communications colleagues!

Library Instruction

Now is the time to look ahead to spring! If you are teaching a course this spring that includes a research-assignment, we encourage you to think about including a library instruction component. Topics could include how to perform basic library and online research, how to find company information, how to cite sources, and more.

Delivery options include online modules through Canvas, online modules through our library website, or face-to-face sessions. The Canvas modules are proving to be very popular and include the option to have a graded quiz that automatically syncs with your Canvas gradebook! However, we can help you pick the option that works best with your course and with your work style.

To schedule a library instruction component with one or more of your spring courses, simply contact Kelly or Tim at, at 407-903-8100, or in person in the library. We request that you please contact us as soon as possible, before the start of classes if possible, with all library instruction requests.
