Fall into the CMC

Posted on: Sep 24, 2013 @ 1:38:31 pm

Welcome Back! There is a lot going on in the CMC, and we want to share it with you!

First and foremost, a major staff change. But, don't fret! You're in good and capable hands.

Dr. Yolanda Hood is the new CMC Department Head. She arrived late this summer from the University of Northern Iowa where she was Associate Professor and Youth Librarian at Rod Library. She worked with numerous departments while there, including the First Year Program and the College of Education. She also provided professional development for teachers and librarians across the state of Iowa and some pretty nifty programming for children and teens as well. And, if that's not enough, she has also served in various leadership roles in professional organizations. As a matter of fact, she just finished serving on the Coretta Scott King Book Award Jury for the American Library Association.

Before her time at the University of Northern Iowa, she worked at universities in Georgia and North Carolina, a museum in Massachusetts, and various arts organizations throughout the United States. Rumor has it that she even taught 7th Grade Language Arts and 9th and 10th grade English for a brief time.

So, what will this mean for the CMC? It means that the CMC will have a very energetic, multi-disciplinary, dedicated advocate for the CMC, its services and resources. And, what does it mean for the College of Education and Human Performance? You have a colleague who is very happy to be here and looks forward to working with you and your students in every possible way.

The CMC is a good place to be and now is the time to fall on in!
