Opening Lines

I'm not a teacher: only a fellow-traveler of whom you asked the way: I pointed ahead — ahead of myself as well as you.

Library Instruction

If you are teaching a course this Fall that includes a research-assignment, we encourage you to think about including a library instruction component. Topics could include how to perform basic library and online research, how to find company information, how to cite sources, and more.

Delivery options include online modules through Canvas, online modules through our library website, or face-to-face sessions. The Canvas modules are proving to be very popular and include the option to have a graded quiz that automatically syncs with your Canvas gradebook, but we can help you pick an option that works best with your course and with your work style.

To schedule a library instruction component with one or more of your Fall courses, simply contact Kelly or Tim at, at 407-903-8100, or in person in the library.

We request that you please contact us as soon as possible, before the start of classes if possible, with all library instruction requests.

Please contact us if you would like to put any additional materials on (print or electronic) reserve for your Fall course(s). You can contact us at, at 407-903-8100, or in person in the library.

Writing Center

The University Writing Center (UWC) will be on campus again this Fall, offering writing consultations in a Rosen Library study room.

Starting with the second week of classes, writing experts will be available in the Rosen Library:

  • Mondays, 11:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
  • Tuesdays 3:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.

Students can visit (and click on the TutorTrac logo) or call 407-823-2197 to set up an appointment. Walk-ins without appointments will also be helped, if availability permits. The UWC also offers remote consultations by phone or by Adobe Connect.

Assistive Technology Station

Spread the word — we now have a new assistive technology workstation in the Rosen Library. The new computer workstation features Jaws and MAGic software, a large-print MAGic keyboard, and a large display (24 inch) monitor.
