Rosen Faculty Lines
Vol. 4, no. 1 | April 2012
New Faces
We are pleased to introduce three new members of our team:
These new staff members are joining longtime team members Library Technical Assistant Supervisor TJ Ormseth and Head Librarian Tim Bottorff. If you haven't been in the library for a while, come on down and meet the staff! While you're here, let us know what we can do to better support your students and your classes!
Tutorials & Classes
Does your class have a research component requiring students to utilize books, journal articles, and other scholarly sources? If so, we hope you will consider using a Rosen Library research Tutorial or a face-to-face instruction session.
All you need to do is let us know with which course(s) you'd like to use a Tutorial or instruction session. We can suggest an appropriate Tutorial for most courses, and we will simply ask that you decide on a due date and how many points to assign to the Quiz. That's all! We do the rest of the work, including compiling and grading the Quizzes. We can even supply you with suggested wording to add to your syllabus. If a face-to-face session is more appropriate, we will discuss the appropriate details with you.
Want to assign a research Tutorial or instruction session for your Summer course(s)? Just fill out our Library Instruction Request Form or email us and we'll be in touch shortly! Or just stop by and let us know your plans. Please note that we request that all instruction and tutorial requests be submitted prior to the start of classes. This allows us time to plan accordingly, and it also allows you time to add the information to your syllabus.
Reserve Materials
Please contact us as soon as possible if you would like to put materials on (print or electronic) reserve for your Summer A or C courses.
No On-site UWC Services over the Summer
The University Writing Center (UWC) has indicated that they do not have enough available staff to provide a Rosen campus consultant during the summer sessions. Please plan accordingly. They do offer a variety of services through their main campus locations and their online consultation options. Please refer to the UWC website for more information.
Rosen Library Hours During Exams and Break
Public Services Librarian Kelly Robinson has created a fantastic new guide that highlights New Items (books and DVDs) received within the last few months.
Each entry includes a cover image, a short description, and a link to the online catalog for more information. We think you will like it! The guide is categorized into many different subject areas to make it easier to find materials of interest to you. Just use the tabs near the top of the page to navigate among the subjects.
Please take a look, and let us know what you think of our New Items guide!
