Rosen Faculty Lines

Vol. 3, No. 11 | November 2011

Opening Lines...

It is unwise to be too sure of one's own wisdom. It is healthy to be reminded that the strongest might weaken and the wisest might err.
~ Mohandas "Mahatma" Gandhi (1869-1948)

News & Notes...

Search for a Librarian

As mentioned in a recent email, we are currently conducting a search for a full-time Public Services Librarian. We are looking forward to filling this vital role, which has been vacant for several years. This librarian will work closely with students as well as with faculty, with primary responsibilities including reference, instruction, collection development, web design, and other core public service duties.

We will likely be doing on-campus interviews in December or January, and we would welcome feedback from Rosen faculty about the final candidates. We will be in touch with the details as we set up on-site interview times.

November Library Hours

Please note the following exceptions to our normal hours in the near future:

  • We will be closed on Friday November 11th for Veterans Day.
  • We will close at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday November 23rd.
  • We will be closed Thursday November 24th through Sunday November 27th for Thanksgiving.

For more information, please see the Rosen Library Hours page.

UWC Update

University Writing Center consultants continue to be available in the Rosen Library:

  • Tuesdays 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. and 2:30 - 4:15 p.m.
  • Wednesdays 10:30 a.m. - 1:15 p.m.
  • Please note these end-of-the-semester updates: there will be no consultant at Rosen on Nov. 23rd, and Nov. 30th will be the last day of UWC services at Rosen for the Fall semester.

Students can visit (and click on the TutorTrac logo) or call 407-823-2197 to set up an appointment. Walk-ins without appointments will also be helped, if availability permits. The UWC also offers remote consultations by phone, chat, or Adobe Connect.

From the Stacks...

In anticipation of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, this month we're presenting a cornucopia of new resources, a smorgasbord of new books and DVDs with something for just about everyone. Enjoy!
