Music for All Ages: A Fine Romance

Do you know who wrote "God Bless America," "White Christmas," "As Time Goes By," or "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"?

You can find the answers in A Fine Romance: Jewish Songwriters, American Songs, 1910-1965 which is on exhibit in the library until October 20, 2011. “A Fine Romance” tells the story of the many Jewish composers such as Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern and George Gershwin, who helped create the great American songbook. You are invited to two exciting programs:

September 27 7:00 p.m. Michael Lasser will give a lecture on “Fascinating Rhythms: How Jewish Songwriters Made American Music – American."

October 20 7:00 p.m. Cantor Jacqueline Rawiszer and Kathryn Slage will present a concert of songs written by many of the composers featured in the exhibition.
