Updated on: Sep 6, 2013 @ 11:12:00 am

Many are familiar with the Libraries collection of exciting art from the Caribbean. From now until Friday, September 27, you can see some of this beautiful collection displayed on campus.

The University of Central Florida Art Gallery is proud to present an exhibition featuring Caribbean art from the Bryant Collection, the Shoemaker Collection and the General Library Collection, all on loan from UCF Libraries Special Collections, as well as works from the private collection of renowned artist, Edouard Duval Carrié.

Celebrated artists such as Wilson Bigaud, Préfète Duffaut, Prospere Pierre-Louis, Mallica “Kapo” Reynolds, Everald Brown and Wifredo Lam will be showcased through paintings, sculpture, and prints. The vibrant spirit of the Caribbean is on view through a combination of festive colors and bold figures. The show has been curated with a multicultural focus that seeks to link the diverse population in Florida with that of the Caribbean.

Once the exhibit is over, come to the John C. Hitt Library 5th floor, home of Special Collections and University Archives to learn more about these treasures.
