Numerous Unused Tables

Posted on: May 27, 2010 @ 8:58:00 am

Comment: I think it is extremely rude that there are numerous table(s) unused in the basement while there is a lot of unused space. Next time wait till after finals.

From the library: Please accept our apology for any inconvenience caused by moving the entire collection and a great deal of existing furniture during spring semester 2010.

There is a need for more seating and study space in the main library. To make way for the Knowledge Commons, which will supply new learning space and increase the number of seats in the library, almost everything in the building had to be rearranged. Moving began in November 2009 and continued throughout spring, culminating in a large empty area on the main floor by the end of spring semester 2010. To have the Knowledge Commons open in fall 2010, it has been crucial for the library to adhere to a timetable that required work during final exams.

It was decided that summer was the best time for any construction, which includes some dust and noise and having a large section of the main floor walled off.

Not a perfect circumstance for students making use of the library. Again, sorry for the inconvenience. The Suggestion Box hopes that when you are at your busiest this fall, you are able to get your favorite seat in the new Knowledge Commons.
