Classical Music Download from Alexander Street Press

Posted on: Feb 18, 2014 @ 3:36:09 pm

This week's free featured download from Classical Music Library is Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso, op. 28 by Camille Saint-Saens. French composer Camille Saint-Saens has been compared to Mozart and this work is a relatively early composition from 1863. Saint-Saen's life spanned a particularly interesting period in music history, from a Romantic era in full swing in the first half of the 19th century to the revolution of "modern" music of composers such as Erik Satie, Claude Debussy, Richard Strauss, and Arnold Schoenberg around the turn of the 20th century. This recording is performed by the Orchestre Symphonie de Radio-Tele-Luxembourg under the direction of Hubert Soudant, featuring violinist Patrice Fontanarosa. Enjoy!
