Oxford Scholarship Online and Handbooks

Funded

Oxford University Press is the oldest and largest university press in the world. The e-books in this collection are suitable for research, study, and course projects, and can be assigned as textbooks. With the purchase of this collection, UCF will gain perpetual rights and online access to over 4,600 titles including access to Oxford’s premier reference titles. Sample titles are provided in Section C of this proposal. A full title list is available online.

The agreement between UCF and Oxford will allow for any fair use of the content for educational purposes, including embedding links to the content in Webcourses. Access would be available to all UCF students and employees, with off campus access enabled by EZproxy. Read more...

Complete Springer eBook Collection 2005-2009

Springer is a major publisher of academic and professional books and series. The e books are suitable for research, study, and course projects, and can be assigned as textbooks. With the purchase of this Collection, UCF will gain perpetual rights and online access to Springer books published between 2005 and 2009 comprised of over 16,000 volumes. All UCF affiliated users will have access from 1997 to 2009 to all of Springer's major book series, including the well known Lecture Notes Series. Read more...

iPads and Technology Lending in the Library

The iPad is, arguably, the most popular portable device currently available. It is multi-functional and provides a beautiful color display for photos and video and can also be used as an e-book reader. Apps for the Kindle, Nook, and other readers can be downloaded to the iPad. Reading reserve materials, web course access, viewing course videos, and accessing the Libraries’ growing collection of e-books are just a few of its possible uses. Purchase of Endnote

Endnote is citation management software used by researchers, graduate students, and undergraduate students to organize and manage citations, images, and PDF files. With Endnote, users can organize an unlimited number of sources into libraries and add the full text PDF to each record. When researchers or students are ready to create a manuscript, Endnote will format in-text citations and create bibliographies in over 4500 citation styles. Access to this software for all users will provide a dependable platform for both PC and MAC users to keep track of all sources. Read more...
