UCF Knights Gameday

Game Day Hours, Thursday 8-31-17

Hours at the UCF Libraries on Gameday, Thursday, August 31 are listed below. Kickoff at Spectrum Stadium is at 6:00 p.m., so hard-working, Library-using, hard-studying, relentlessly researching Knights have plenty of time to meet tailgating friends and see the start of the game. The UCF Knights face the FIU Panthers, under the lights. Go Knights! Charge On!

  • Rosen Library – 1:00p.m.
  • CMC Library – 1:00p.m.

New Fall Exhibit at Rosen Library

Welcome back to new and returning Rosen College students! Check out our display in the Rosen library’s exhibit case: Campus Tour-in-a-Box. We have gathered flyers, brochures, and materials that offer a quick rundown of resources available to students.

  • Pick up a brochure for Rosen College’s degree programs.
  • Learn about purchasing a Rosen campus parking permit.
  • Did you know that you can speak to a licensed mental health counselor at the UCF CAPS office here at Rosen?
  • Interested in exploring your options after graduation? Learn about continuing your academic career with Rosen’s graduate programs.

Also included in the exhibit are books showcasing current trends in the field of hospitality and tourism, plus books about time management and productivity!

New to UCF and want pointers on using the UCF Libraries?  Looking for time-savers when hunting for books and articles?  Come meet helpful librarians and learn how the Libraries can make your life easier.  One lucky attendee will win a UCF Libraries Superhero T-shirt!

 

Jedi Training Quest
Thursday, August 24th 10:00am-2:00pm
John C. Hitt Library, main floor
Take a quick tour of the John C. Hitt Library and learn about helpful services and resources, all while completing a fun adventure-style scavenger hunt.  The quest should take 10-15 minutes to complete. All Jedi who complete the training can refuel with a snack and be entered to win prizes! The first 150 students to complete the quest earn an exclusive UCF Libraries construction rubber duck and an Insomnia cookie.

 

Star Wars and UCF Trivia Contest
Friday, August 25th 1:00-2:00pm
Student Union – Key West 218
Come challenge your fellow Jedi knights to see who knows the most about the University and the Empire, from Knightro to Nerfherders.  The winning team takes home prizes!

Update: Noise and Closures

1st & 2nd Floors

Restrooms on the 1st and 2nd Floors in the “back half” of the building are closed for renovation. Newly renovated restrooms are open on the 3rd and 4th Floors.

5th Floor

Quiet Study space remains closed for Construction.

Front Stairwell

Closed on all floors, use only in case of emergency.

More information about the 21st Century Library project is at: http://library.ucf.edu/21st/ You can check there for any work alerts. Earplugs remain available at the Circulation Desk.

Update: Noise and Closures

The Student Union side of the 3rd floor is now open! This means that the front side of the 3rd floor is now closed for work on the sprinklers. These items are inaccessible: Books with call numbers HT1507- M, Oversize books J-Z, Media and Current Periodicals. Search for the item you would like in the UCF catalog and click on Place a Hold in the bottom right corner of the record. Your item will be retrieved and you will be notified to pick it up at the Circulation Desk.

A path remains open to the LibTech Desk
from the “Bank of 2 elevators” and North and East stairs.
Only one elevator remains open in the “Bank of 3” elevators on the south side of the building as work continues on the other 2 elevators.

The west stairwell is currently closed. All others are open.

Work continues on the 1st and 2nd floor restrooms. Restrooms on 2M, the restrooms on the Student Union side of 3rd floor, 4th floor, and 5th floor remain open.

The 5th floor study area remains closed for preparation of the Quiet Study Zone. Special Collections and Archives and all 5th floor offices remain open and accessible by south stairs or the operating elevator in the bank of 3 elevators.

Construction on the Automated Retrieval Center between the library and the Student Union is moving forward.

If you find the noise challenging, do not hesitate to ask for earplugs at the Circulation Desk.
