Research Consultation

Schedule an online appointment for a one-on-one research consultation. Monday-Wednesday and Friday appointments are scheduled via Zoom with evening availability on Mondays, from 12PM-7PM. In-person appointments in Orlando are held primarily on Thursdays from 10AM-4PM. Other appointments, including evening appointments, are held via Zoom only. Biography

Michael Furlong, Ed.D., is the UCF Connect Librarian at the UCF Daytona Beach campus and serves as the Photography, Nursing and Integrated Business Librarian in Daytona and also has additional subject areas in Orlando in Business, Nursing and Theater/Performing Arts.

Michael was a librarian at Valencia College, and Rollins prior to working at UCF. Additionally, Michael worked internationally in London, England at FSU’s London Librarian at the Study Center for a year as an internship.

Michael earned his doctorate (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership in Higher Education from The University of Central Florida. Michael also holds an MS in Library Science and Information Studies from Florida State University and an MA in Literature from Florida Atlantic University. Michael’s research interests include scholarly collaborations between librarians and subject faculty, theater/film, graphic novels, and RPG tabletop gaming.

Michael has presented on censorship, graphic novels, film, and gender studies at Orange County Public Libraries, The Enzian Theater, Daytona State College, The Southeast Museum of Photography, The University of Central Florida, The Florida Library Association, and The International Association for the Fantastic in the Arts (IAFA). Michael’s scholarship includes book chapters in 52 Ready-To-Use Gaming Programs for LibrariesTerrifying Texts: Essays on Books of Good and Evil in Horror Cinema, and Ages of Heroes, Eras of Men.
