Research Consultation

Biography

Missy has been a librarian at the University of Central Florida Libraries since 2010. She provides collection management, research assistance (walk-up, Ask-a-librarian, and research consultations), library instruction, and departmental outreach to Anthropology and Psychology. She is also the librarian for the Orlando Patent and Trademark Resource Center (PTRC), which serves the intellectual property educational needs of north and central Florida, as well as the UCF community. In this role she hosts workshops and events, provides one-on-one research consultations, and speaks on patents and trademarks in classes, club meetings, conferences, and campus and community events.

Missy is deeply committed to advancing equitable and inclusive access to the UCF Libraries. She actively contributes to both library and university committees that champion these values. Her research interests include library accessibility issues, Intellectual property in higher education, and subject librarian outreach to academic departments. Missy recently attended the Library Evidence Synthesis Services Symposium (LESSS) and the Evidence Synthesis Institute, and looks forward to sharing what she’s learned with her departments. She holds the Master of Library and Information Studies from the University of Alabama and B.A. degrees in Psychology and Mathematics from the University of Mississippi. Before joining the UCF Libraries, Missy worked for the University of Mississippi, where she held various duties in reference and instruction, government documents, and the AICPA library service.

When not in the library, Missy can often be found cooking, playing board games, hiking the Florida trails (in cooler months), or watching Star Trek with her cat.
