Athena Hoeppner is a University Librarian in Resources & Discovery at the University of Central Florida. Her work focuses on improving how people find and access library resources, with an emphasis on discovery systems, electronic resources, and usage data. She contributes to the development and ongoing refinement of UCF’s discovery environment, including the implementation of Primo’s New Discovery Experience (NDE). She also works with colleagues across the Libraries to connect systems, data, and workflows, and supports assessment and reporting efforts, including institutional effectiveness.
Athena is active in state and national initiatives related to electronic resources, usage data, and standards development. Her work is grounded in practical experience and focused on making library systems easier to use, easier to manage, and better aligned with the needs of the university. She holds a Master of Library and Information Science from Simmons College and has over 30 years of experience in reference, electronic resources, discovery systems, and library systems work.
