This document explains the types of biotic communities found on the Florida Technological University Campus in 1971 and makes recommendations for actions to preserve those communities as the campus develops. Materials were removed from their binder and placed in pH neutral folders. Photographs were placed in polyester sleeves.

 Biographical/Historical Note

The Department of Biological Sciences was one of the original departments of the university and was part of the College of Natural Sciences. It taught biology, botany, microbiology and zoology. When the College of Arts and Sciences was formed in 1981, the department became part of the new college. By then it had added limnology to its curriculum. In 1991, the department was renamed as the Department of Biology when a new department of Molecular Biology and Microbiology was created in the College of Health and Public Affairs. The College of Arts and Sciences split in 2006, and the Department of Biology returned to the College of Science.

 Collection Scope and Content

This document is split into three folders in a single series in the order in which the report was created.

This document contains a letter explaining its purpose, a report, photographs of the campus and an appendix. The report describes the natural landscape and flora on the campus and makes recommendations about the use and preservation of the area.
