Performing Arts Center - 2010

The new Performing Arts Center is designed to provide a full range of capabilities to the Music and Theater programs. For instance, exciting new teaching and learning facilities include a recording studio, a keyboard studio, chamber music room, electro-acoustic music lab, percussion ensemble rooms, and practice rooms in the first phase and a 600-seat concert hall, a 263-seat recital hall, a 520-seat proscenium theater, and a 225-seat black box theater in the second phase. In addition to the first phase musical facilities, there are also three acting and dance studios, three acting scene rooms, voice rooms, and a light lab.

Construction on the first phase was begun in May of 2009 and was paid for by PECO, Public Education Capital Outlay, funds but the second phase of construction, which has an estimated amount of 75 million, is entirely dependent upon private donations. The center’s first phase is considered the academic space, has 75,000 square feet, and was completed in August for the fall semester of 2010. The center’s second phase is considered the performance space with 150,000 square feet and as of the end of 2012 UCF is still in the process of acquiring funds for its construction.
