Searching the Bryant Collection in the UCF Library Catalog
All books in the Bryant West Indies Collection are cataloged and can be searched using the Library's Online Catalog. Below are some tips for searching the Catalog.
To Search for a specific Island, Country, Ethnic Group or other topic from the default search page, click on the "Advanced" link on the top menu bar. This will take you to the advanced search page. Choose "Keywords" from the first drop down menu located under "Search in". Enter the name of the Island, Country or other topic you are searching for in the text box located under "Search Terms". In the second drop down menu located under "Search in" choose "Title". Enter "west indies collection" in the text box located under "Search Terms". Choose "Special Collections" in the drop down box under "Location" near the bottom of the page. Hit the "Submit Search" button. This will perform a Keyword search of the Bryant Collection.
TO SEARCH FOR A SPECIFIC AUTHORFrom the default search page, click on the "Advanced" link on the top menu bar. This will take you to the advanced search page. Choose "Author" from the first drop down menu located under "Search in". Enter the name of the author you are searching for in the text box located under "Search Terms". In the second drop down menu located under "Search in" choose "Title". Enter "west indies collection" in the text box located under "Search Terms". Choose "Special Collections" in the drop down box under "Location" near the bottom of the page. Hit the "Submit Search" button. This will perform an Author search of the Bryant Collection.
TO SEARCH FOR A SPECIFIC SUBJECT
From the default search page, click on the "Advanced" link on the top menu bar. This will take
you to the advanced search page. Choose "Subject" from the first drop down menu located under
"Search in". Enter the name of the Island, Country or other topic you are searching for in the
text box located under "Search Terms". In the second drop down menu located under "Search in"
choose "Title". Enter "west indies collection" in the text box located under "Search Terms".
Choose "Special Collections" in the drop down box under "Location" near the bottom of the page.
Hit the "Submit Search" button. This will perform a Subject search of the Bryant Collection.
Note: subject searches search Library of Congress subject headings only. If you are getting
poor results, try a Keyword search instead.
TO SEARCH FOR A SPECIFIC TITLE
From the default search page, click on the "Advanced" link on the top menu bar. This will take
you to the advanced search page. Choose "Title" from the first drop down menu located under
"Search in". Enter the name of the title of the book you are searching for in the text box located
under "Search Terms". In the second drop down menu located under "Search in" choose "Title".
Enter "west indies collection" in the text box located under "Search Terms". Choose "Special
Collections" in the drop down box under "Location" near the bottom of the page. Hit the "Submit
Search" button. This will perform a Title search of the Bryant Collection.
