April 15, Tax Day---need some information?

Tuesday, April 15 is a deadline with which we are all familiar. The Income Tax filing deadline! Are you a last-minute filer?

No need to hit the panic button---yet. A UCF Libraries Research Guide with links to all kinds of tax information and all the forms is at

Prepared by UCF's Government Documents Librarian Rich Gause, this should make you feel just a tiny bit better, having the resources at your fingertips.

Ignore this deadline at your peril! Remember, his income tax evasion, not his racketeering, resulted in the conviction and jailing of Al Capone.



Great Navel Orange Races of 2014

On Friday, April 11, in front of the John C. Hitt Library, the freshmen engineers held the Great Navel Orange Races. Intense competition and great entertainment were provided by the engineers.

Why the name? Each vessel must carry a piece of fruit.

We did not observe any sunken sailing vessels: hopefully that means that the time in class learning formulae and other engineering tools has been time well spent.

NLM has released a new Drug Information subject guide as the latest update in their subject guide series. The subject guides are based on their most frequently asked questions, and are starting points for health professionals, researchers, librarians, students, and others.



Celebrating 50 Years of Beatlemania: Citation Analysis on the"Fab-Four"

Web of Science citation analysis reveals the significant impact the Beatles had on the global scholarly research landscape.

50 years ago, four young musicians from Liverpool, England appeared on the global stage and took the world by musical storm. To celebrate the Beatles' rise to worldwide fame, analysts at Thomson Reuters conducted a search of the Web of Science, their premier scientific search and discovery platform, to identify hundreds of pertinent papers devoted to the band, their music, and their continuing influence. From that list, 10 were selected to demonstrate the academic attention the Beatles continue to inspire decades after worldwide Beatles Mania first took hold in 1964, the same year the Web of Science originated.
