Come on in for a visit this week

Pick up some great reading. It will improve the quality of your Intersession week, a great time to do some leisure reading. The John C. Hitt Library is open from 7.30 a.m. – 5.00 p.m. Monday – Friday, closed Saturday (5/14) and Sunday (5/15) this week. Summer hours begin on Monday, 5/16.
Did you know that you can browse the catalog for great titles in the Knight Reads collection? Select the Books/Catalog tab at the top of the search box, then hit the Advanced Search button. Don’t fill in any information in the top three boxes. Instead, under Limit your searches, go to LOCATION, hit the arrow for a drop-down box. Select Main Library, Orlando – Knight Reads. Then hit the grey Search button. You will be rewarded with a list of catalog entries for the titles in the Knight Reads collection. Besides feeling pleased with yourself, you can select some titles for your next trip to the John C. Hitt Library.

Planning some late night study?

Any time is a great time to visit the UCF Libraries, but finals week always draws a good crowd. Library hours are extended for more study, review, reflection and even some last-minute research.
Plan on using UCF’s Safe Escort Patrol Service (SEPS) between 7.00 p.m. and 3.00 a.m., for a safe ride back to your car or residence. 14,500 UCF students, faculty, staff and visitors called SEPS at 407-823-2424 last year. When you leave the John C. Hitt Library tonight, weary but filled with a semester’s worth of knowledge, don’t walk alone. Call SEPS, Knights!

John C. Hitt Library open for Study Day

Yesterday afternoon, Tuesday, April 26, the John C. Hitt Library was evacuated and on lockdown for over an hour, beginning just before 4.00 p.m. Commendably, students reacted to the UCF Police Department’s request to evacuate with speed and calm. Police swept the library building thoroughly and found no threat to safety, and gave the “all clear” after 5.00 p.m.
The John C. Hitt Library reopened, and remained open until 3.00 a.m.
Today, Study Day, the John C. Hitt Library is open from 7.00 a.m. to 3.00 a.m. Kram for the Exam begins at 8.00 p.m. tonight.
Thanks to the UCF Police Department! Please report any threat to safety on campus directly to the Police.
