There is an online tutorial available on how to find books and journal articles through the UCF Libraries Catalog and electronic databases. Research guides will help you search by subject. Reference librarians are available to answer questions at the Reference desk on the library main floor.
Of special interest to local inventors is the Patents and Trademarks Collection.
Various special borrower library cards are available for John C. Hitt Library patrons and are listed below. To be issued any special borrower card, patrons must be present, show a school issued photo ID card, or a government issued photo ID card (Florida Driverís License or Florida ID card). If Florida government issued photo ID is not available, a passport or other photo ID and proof of Florida residency must be presented. THERE IS A MAXIMUM OF TEN ITEMS THAT MAY BE ON LOAN AT ANY GIVEN TIME.
This is for members of the Alumni Association who join at the Lifetime Membership level. After joining, please bring to the Circulation desk a government issued photo ID, and your Alumni Lifetime Membership card to get your special borrowers' card. Alumni special borrower cards will need to be renewed once a year, to keep all patron profiles up to date.
This Special Borrower Card is for members of the community who would like to check out books from our library. To purchase a community card you must be 18 years old and have a valid Florida driverís license, proof of Florida residency. Any person under the age of 18 who wishes to purchase a Grey Borrower card must have their parent or other legal guardian purchase the card in the parent's or guardian's name. The parent or guardian will purchase the card using the same procedure as any adult patron but the parent or guardian can authorize ONE minor to check out materials on that grey borrower card. Only that one authorized minor can use the card to check out items, the parent/guardian cannot use the card. The minor must present some sort of government issued photo ID card to use the Grey Card (driver's license, passport, School ID, etc), unless their parent or legal guardian is present to provide their own proof of ID.
If a minor is too young to have any sort of government or school issued ID card (or just doesn't have any qualifying photo ID), then the parent/guardian must purchase the card in their own name and must always be present to check out the materials.
