Reproductions & Use Policies

Photocopying

Materials in Special Collections & University Archives may be protected by U.S. Copyright Law (Title 17, U.S. Code) which governs reproduction, distribution, public display and certain other uses of protected works. Any and all responsibility for questions of copyright and/or other legal questions which may arise from facsimile reproduction of materials from the collections, or from the use of such reproductions, will be assumed by the user. Please see our copyright notice and the UCF Libraries’ copyright policy for more information.

By providing photocopies, photo reproductions, digital images and electronic copies, Special Collections & University Archives does NOT convey the right to publish or reproduce Special Collections & University Archives materials. Permission to Publish must be obtained from the UCF Libraries Special Collections & University Archives in writing. Photocopies may not be reduplicated or deposited elsewhere without the prior written consent of the Head of Special Collections & University Archives.

Photocopies are made by Special Collections & University Archives staff only, as time permits. No photocopy requests may be placed within 15 minutes of closing. To protect bound volumes, staff will only copy one page per copy.

Patrons are charged $0.10 per copy. Change can not be provided. Non-UCF patrons can obtain a visitor smart card from two dispensers located in John C. Hitt Library. A visitor card costs $1.00 and patrons can load using debit card, credit card or paper bill.

Photo Duplication/Digital Imaging

Photo duplication and digital imaging are available. Contact the department for more information.

      • If creation of a photographic print or digital image first needs scanning or photographing, there will be an additional per image fee.
      • Users should note that reproductions of UCF Special Collections & University Archives materials are subject to a per use image fee when approved by UCF Special Collections & University Archives staff for use in publishing, video, production/film, exhibits, presentations, advertising websites or similar use.

    • Submit this form to UCF Special Collections & University Archives when requesting reproductions.
    • Here you will list the types of images you want and how you want them. Not enough room? List your request on a separate sheet of paper and submit it with the original form. This form also helps us determine what work we need to do to the images.
    • All reproductions are provided for personal use only. Should you wish to publish, in any format, images, maps, correspondence, or other reproductions from our collections, you will also need to complete and return a Permissions Request form. • Permission to Use Request Form
    • Submit this form to request permission to publish materials from Special Collections & University Archives.
    • This form does not automatically give you permission to use the images. You must submit a signed copy of this form to us. For those out of the area, you can fax or submit a PDF copy of the signed form but you must still mail a hard copy.
    • Please keep in mind, the copyright on several of our collections is still held by the creator’s family. We will let you know on your initial contact with us if there are copyright restrictions with the collection you want to use. Please allow at least two weeks lead time should we need to contact a copyright holder.
