UCF Collection Development and Technology Fees
The Libraries Vision for Developing Collection Focused Technology Fee Proposals
UCF Libraries has taken full advantage of the competitive UCF Technology Fee process in recent years. The UCF Libraries has submitted 15 successful proposals, receiving just over $2.1M in funding for valuable electronic resources that enrich the educational and research experience at UCF.
The UCF Libraries considers several factors when deciding on the final products to recommend for technology fee funding, factors include:
- Products must be available online with 24/7 access, IP authenticated and available to all UCF users with a preference for those collections with no limit to the number of simultaneous users.
- Potential packages are reviewed to determine the completeness of the collection and how the content will benefit UCF students and faculty.
- Collections that will give access to some new content while also permitting the library to remove print holdings are strongly considered.
Future technology fee proposals will focus on spreading the benefits across all disciplines and seeking out faculty input to position the resources for use in the classroom. Questions should be directed to Ying Zhang, Acquisitions Librarian at Ying.Zhang@ucf.edu
