By Margaret Ann Zaho, PhD, Visiting Instructor, UCF Art Department The Rossano Gospels, and the Drogo Sacramentary, represent books made for and with faith and devotion. Both are books that were produced for and used in the performance of the Christian Liturgy. Gospel books, like the Rossano Gospels, normally contained the full text of the four accounts of Christ’s life attributed to the Four Evangelists, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Sections of these Gospels were read on specific dates to correspond with the appropriate festival or season in the Liturgical calendar.
