Career Services & Experiential Learning - 2010

Construction finished for the Career Services building located next to Classroom Building I in November of 2010 after ground was broken in early 2010. Funded by the Student Government Association, the new 25,000 square foot building offers more space for the Office of Experiential Learning and Career Services, which was previously housed in Ferrell Commons near the Marketplace and Apollo Residence Hall. The first floor houses the main office of Experiential Learning, where students arrange co-op and internship opportunities, along with a career library, computer resource area, practice interview rooms, counseling offices, and two state of the art classrooms for career related workshops and seminars whereas the second floor offers more professional interview rooms for students to meet with potential employers. With the growth of enrollment passing 54,000 students as of the 2010-2011 academic school year, the need for a larger building to house career services was essential. With the new building, Career Services can host more events in the larger workshop rooms on the first floor rather than scheduling the events in the Student Union rooms.
