Production Studio FAQ

Where is the Production Studio?

The Production Studio is located on the second floor of the John C. Hitt Library at the UCF Main Campus near the Barnies Coffee and our Graphic Novels display, in room 230.

Who can use the Production Studio?

UCF Students (Undergraduates and Graduates) currently enrolled in classes, UCF Staff, and UCF Faculty may all book sessions.

How do I book the Production Studio?

Once completing the introductory Webcourse, you will be able to schedule a 30-minute Orientation with a LibTech staff member to go over important guidelines, assess your needs in the space, and ask any questions you may have. Once that’s complete, a note will be added to your Alma account stating you are certified to use the Production Studio. You may then begin booking sessions. You’ll receive an email confirmation when the session date and time is approved. Sessions can be booked up to one month in advance.

How long does a session last? Is there a limit to how many sessions I can book?

The maximum session time is 90 minutes. Please allow ample time towards the end of your session to save files to a storage device, preferably your own. An SSD (Solid State Drive) will be provided in the Studio, however, that drive will be wiped at the end of each day for privacy reasons. Storage devices can also be rented out at the LibTech desk.

To accommodate more patrons, only one session per week will be permitted.

How many people are allowed in one session?

Up to five people are allowed in a session at a time. The person that booked the session must present a valid UCF ID and be present at all times.

Do you provide basic troubleshooting for issues that arise in the Production Studio? What about 1-on-1 in-depth instruction if needed?

This is more of a “do it yourself” learning environment. Staff MAY be available to troubleshoot small issues, but in-depth assistance is not available at this time. If you have concerns about a piece of equipment, let us know in your Orientation and we will do our best to figure it out together.

Do you provide SSDs for saving files created in the Production Studio or should I bring my own?

As previously mentioned, an SSD will be provided in the Studio. However, it is best practice to save to your own device and save often.

1TB Samsung T7 SSDs and 500GB LaCie SSDs specifically for Studio use can also be loaned out at the LibTech desk.

Can I extend my session time if needed?

Unfortunately, due to other sessions being scheduled, you will not be able to extend your session time.

What equipment do you have in the Studio?

A full list of equipment can be found on our Equipment List page.

What backdrop options do you offer for the Presentation and Headshot Stages?

For the Presentation Stage, we offer: Crimson, Sand, Super White, Fashion Gray, Blue Jay, and Tech Green. For the Headshot stage, we offer: Grunge Concrete, Aged Red, Copper, and Gray.

Are we able to bring our own equipment into the Studio to use?

Yes, personal equipment such as cameras, microphones, and other accessories are allowed. Just make sure you have all the necessary pieces to make them work.

Are we able to move equipment around inside the Studio?

Any equipment that is on wheels can be moved around inside the Studio. Any equipment NOT on wheels needs to remain in place. Connections between equipment have been made intentionally with optimum settings for most users, therefore do not alter any cabling.
