All UCF students are invited to use a mobile device to complete a superhero mission in the John C. Hitt Library.

From August 29-September 2^nd, you can choose to join a mission that will ask you to make several stops around the library to discover your library superpowers.  Everyone who completes the mission will be entered to win a prize, and all superheroes will get a cookie or snack.  Prizes in the drawing include a limited edition UCF Libraries Superhero tshirt, a tour of UCF Special Collections and University Archives including a photo op with Vinnie the Vulture, UCF Theatre tickets, and more.

There will be a table set up in the Knowledge Commons, just past the library entry on the main floor, with instructions and special prizes.

Site preparation is underway for construction on the Student Union side of the John C. Hitt Library. A webpage, 21st Century Library, is now available with more information. News, information about the Automated Retrieval Center, a site plan, and some Frequently Asked Questions are included.

Katie Kirwan was honored this week as the UCF Libraries Employee of the Year. Katie has worked at the Libraries since 1999. She works in Acquisitions and Collections. Letters of support for Katie’s nomination included testimonies to her “can-do attitude” and her ability to juggle responsibilities.

You may have noticed heavy equipment and some digging behind the John C. Hitt Library. There will be noise in the library associated with the site preparation work, particularly on that side of the building.

The site is being prepared for some of the work on Phase 1 of the 21st Century Library project, which will include construction of an Automated Retrieval Center (ARC) on the north side of the current library building.

Pardon our dust! The transformation of the library is just beginning.

The Summer Knights Reading Challenge ended on August 1, 2016.

200 UCF students, faculty, and staff participated in the challenge.

A total of 607,482 pages were read.

3^rd Place: $25 Starbucks gift card (courtesy of Starbucks located at 895 N. Alafaya Trail) was awarded to Rachael Johnson

Five randomly selected participants won a voucher good for one free item from Jeremiah’s Italian Ice
