Summer Knights Reading Challenge

Summer Knights Reading Challenge – Win Prizes!!

The Summer Knights Reading Challenge runs from June 1 to August 1, 2017 and is open to all UCF students, faculty, and staff.

Participation
Submit the number of pages you read on our Summer Knights Reading Challenge guide. Check the leaderboard each week.

Grand Prizes

  • Read the most pages overall and win a 6″ Amazon Kindle, courtesy of UCF Tech Product Center
  • Read the second most pages and win a prize bag full of UCF Merchandise, courtesy of UCF Bookstore
  • Read the third most pages overall and win a $25 Starbucks gift card

Grand prize winners will be announced August 4, 2017

500 Club

  • Read 500 pages and win a prize pack* We will keep track of the number of pages you’ve read. Once you reach 500 pages we will contact you to claim your prize pack. Prizes may be picked up at any UCF Library location.

*Prize packs available while supplies last

Weekly Drawings

  • Weekly drawings will be held for gift cards to Burger Fi, Jeremiah’s Italian Ice, Mellow Mushroom, Smoothie King, and Topper’s

Monday is Zen Day in the John C. Hitt Library

Join us on Monday, May 1st from 9am-5pm in John C. Hitt Library room 223 if you’re looking for a space to chill out.

Meditation classes will be held at 10am & 1pm. Bring your own yoga mat, or use one of the mats provided by Wellness & Health Promotion Services.

National Poetry Month at the John C. Hitt Library

April is National Poetry Month

April is National Poetry Month and the UCF Libraries are springing headlong forward to celebrate.

Student Poetry Contests

  • Ode to a Library – Submissions due by April 14, 2017 at 11:59 pm.
    Poem of any style or length about library
  • Haiku by You – Submissions due by April 21, 2017 at 11:59 pm.
    “Haiku” is a traditional form of Japanese poetry. Haiku poems consist of 3 lines. The first and last lines of a Haiku have 5 syllables and the middle line has 7 syllables. The lines rarely rhyme.

Winners will receive a Library Superpowers T-shirt and be published in STARS KnightVerse.

Erasure Poetry

An Erasure Poetry table will be set up between the Circulation Desk and Reference Desk from April 3 – 7. Staff favorites will be displayed on the windows by the entrance and on library social media accounts.
