Acquisitions & Collection Services actively develops the collection of library resources to support and enrich the academic programs at the University of Central Florida by coordinating the selection, purchase and licensing, and processing of content. The department acquires material and content in all formats, and facilitates the discovery and delivery of these resources to users of the library.
What We Do:
Acquisitions
- Orders recommended materials
- Approves invoices for payment
- Receive materials and deliver to Cataloging or receiving department
- Preservation and repair
Electronic Resources
- Handle requests, purchasing, licensing, and invoice approvals
- Maintain and enhance discovery and access systems
- Assist students, staff, and faculty with troubleshooting
Serials
- Maintains subscriptions and processing for periodicals
- Approves invoices for payment
- Updates holdings in catalog
Collection Services
- Coordinate collection development activities of librarian liaisons to UCF Colleges, Departments, and Programs
- Select content to add to the collection
- Evaluate the collection and its usage and ROI
- Work with subject liaison librarians to prepare accreditation reports, program reviews, and benchmark reports for new program proposals
- Plan expenditures and project budgetary needs
