Noise Alert: 4th floor

Work is scheduled to begin on the 4th floor restrooms on the Student Union side of the John C. Hitt Library building on October 17. Work will include demolition and construction.
Earplugs can be requested at the Circulation Desk, main floor.
Site preparation for the Automated Retrieval Center continues on the north side of the building.

Spirit Splash on Friday means only one thing: Homecoming Weekend! Tomorrow, Saturday hours at the John C.Hitt Library are 9.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. Plenty of time for research and study before kickoff against the Temple Owls at 7,30 p.m. at Bright House Stadium. Alumni, come on in and take a look, and remember all the hard work you did here in UCF’s first building. Welcome back!

LGBT Tourism Exhibit - Rosen Library

LGBT Tourism Exhibit at Rosen Library

On display in the exhibit case at the Rosen Library are books, souvenirs, and photographs regarding lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender tourism. The exhibit showcases fiction and nonfiction gay travelogues and academic research on LGBT tourism. The pamphlet covers basic information regarding LGBT tourism and the history of this particular subset of tourism in Florida. This exhibit has been on display since August, and it will run through October. Schuyler Kerby curates the exhibit with assistance from Shane Roopnarine.

Open Access (OA) is celebrated each year in October during OA Week. OA Week aims to bring awareness to the benefits of OA. It also helps encourage OA advancements and innovations throughout the global scholarly community. OA Week has been a worldwide event for nearly a decade, and it is organized by SPARC.

You might have noticed that our Talk Like a Pirate Day blog post mentioned OA Week. Our pirate-themed OA Week activities are coming up soon!

Open Heart Open Mic Event 10/13 at 6PM

Join us for the second in a series of Open Heart Open Mics on Thursday, October 13th at 6PM in John C. Hitt Library room 223. The UCF Libraries is partnering with the Women’s & Gender Studies Program to present an ongoing open mic event series.

Each month will feature a UCF faculty member and UCF student speaking on the monthly theme. This month’s theme is LGBTQ+ History. You are welcome to bring a story, poem, song, or any other vocal presentation to share.

There will be refreshments provided.
