What is UBorrow?
UBorrow is a new way of requesting books through Interlibrary Loan. With UBorrow, you can request books that are held at other State University Libraries (like University of Florida and FSU) by clicking on the UBorrow button in the Union Catalog.
What is the Union Catalog?
The Union Catalog is a catalog that includes all of the books and other items owned by the libraries of Florida's 11 State Universities. This means that a search of the Union Catalog will not only retrieve items owned by the UCF Library, but items owned by libraries at other Florida universities as well.
So, how do you request books through UBorrow and the Union Catalog?
When searching UCF's Library catalog, you will see a link in the upper right-hand side of the screen that says "Show items that you can request statewide," followed by the UBorrow logo:
This will take you to the Union Catalog, with the results of your search showing items owned by all of the State University Libraries. When you find an item you want to borrow, click on the UBorrow logo by the item and you will be prompted to log-in to your ILLiad/UBorrow account. Once you've logged in, the information for the book you want to borrow will be automatically imported into a book request form. Just click "Submit" at the bottom of the form, and wait for you book to arrive!
