Using Documents from E-mail
When using open a Word, Excel, or any other file from your email, use Save as... and save a copy to My Documents or to your USB drive. If you just use Save instead of Save as, your file will be put into a temporary folder, which is not reachable through standard accounts and is purged when you log off.
