The UCF Libraries provides services to help you to manage your data and project information before you begin your research and throughout the research life cycle. Metadata Services offers the following service packages:
We can assist in fulfilling the metadata requirements as specified in the funding agencies' guidelines, and provide recommendations for metadata standards and schemas for your particular research projects. Request an appointment with Sai to schedule a consultation.
A variety of common and domain-specific metadata standards can be found in the Funding Policy Requirements page under Metadata as well as a list of recommended metadata elements under Data Set Metadata. For a complete overview about creating data management plan, please refer to UCF Libraries Data Management Guide.
We can assist in creating, generating, editing and enriching metadata for your publications, images and datasets that are deposited in the library’s content management systems including CONTENTdm, DigiTool and SobekCM. We can offer authority control for certain fields in your datasets to facilitate data indexing and retrieval and data sharing and access. We can also help with enhancing metadata for your online journal hosting. Please refer to Digital Collection Hosting services to choose a system to store your data.
Each of these systems support Dublin Core, the most widely used metadata standard for web and digital resources, which allows greater interoperability. Subject specific and local information fields can be mapped to certain fields in a schema that the system supports, if applicable.
If a researcher prefers datasets to be stored in a domain-specific repository, the library can assist in identifying data repositories to store your data. A list of data repositories can be found at Databib.org, a Registry of Research Data Repositories.
